2020 Carolina Am

The Carolina Pro-Am for 2020 is now the Carolina Am presented by Salt Life ,Infinity Sup Co and the Blockade Runner Hotel for 2020 given the current state of the world. The Carolina AM is honoring the amateur competitors that has been re-scheduled for October 30 – November 1, 2020.  This year, the Carolina Am is dedicated to the amateur competitors given the travel restrictions for most professional athletes.  Safety guidelines will be in place to not only adhere to state and city guidelines, but also for Sup surf competitors that will follow safety guidelines by the World Paddle Association (WPA).

The Carolina Am will be a two-day Stand Up Paddle (SUP) Surf event, drawing the best amateur paddle surfers competing for great prizes from our event sponsors.  New for 2020 will be the “First Comp” for all first-time contest competitors and the Haywood Newkirk Amateur Award honoring the best combined finish in Open and Longboard divisions that will awarded to a male or female.

Carolina Pro-Am Event Schedule

Follow all WPA safety guidelines that includes the State and City Covid safety guidelines to be outlined. Leashes are MANDATORY while in the water and during competition!  This is a city law.  Any registered competitor not wearing a leash during the competition days will be disqualified.

OPEN, JUNIORS & FIRST COMP DIVISIONS– will compete on Saturday, October 31st and Sunday, November 1st with finals.

Final call with the starting time will be made by 9pm the night before each day of competition.  Times and divisions are tentative based on conditions.

  • 8am –  6pm                 Heats (heats times by division tba)

Sunday, November 1st:

  • 8am – 4pm                 Semi-finals and finals Heats (heats times by division tba)
  • 5:30pm                        Awards Ceremony- Oceanic on Crystal Pier
