2015 Salt Life Cup WPA National Race Series
The World Paddle Association announces the Salt Life Cup 2015
Salt Life Apparel, in association with the World Paddle Association, proudly announces the Salt Life Cup 2015. The Salt Life Cup is a season-long accumulation of points earned at all WPA National races (schedule TBA) which began with the Hanohano Huki Ocean Challenge on January 24, 2015 and culminating at the WPA Championships (date TBA). Chase Kosterlitz (Men’s 14’) and April Zilg (Women’s 12’6) were crowned the first Salt Life Cup Champions in 2014.
The WPA National races (plus other selected races listed) will award double points and quadruple points at the WPA Championships earned through the long course or designated race at the stated races in Men’s SUP 14’ and Women’s SUP 12’6. The top point’s leader at the end of the season will receive bonus money and be crowned 2015 Salt Life Cup Champions. Competitors must compete in at least three designated Salt Life Cup races during the 2015 season and the WPA Championships to qualify for the Salt Life Cup bonus money. The Salt Life Cup bonus money will be awarded as follows to top point earners:
Men- $5,000
Women- $3,500
“Salt Life Apparel is excited to continue our relationship with the World Paddle Association and the Salt Life Cup for 2015”, stated Larry Laska, Brand Manager. Laska continues, “The demographics of paddlers and the World Paddle Association fits the Salt Life customer and lifestyle the brand is seeking to maximum our exposure.” In addition to the bonus money for the top points leaders, Salt Life will award a $500 gift card to the top placing Open race competitors in the Men’s 12’6, and 14’ overall; and the Women’s 12’6 overall winner at the WPA Championships.
WPA partner PaddleGuru who manages the race solution for all of the WPA sanctioned events will be managing the points throughout the year with the Salt Life Cup and the WPA National Race Series. All competitors will need to be a current WPA member by July 1, 2015 to have points earned retro-active from races prior to July 1, 2015. Anyone that has not joined or renewed their membership by July 1, 2015 will not receive any points earned prior to July 1, 2015.
