The World Paddle Association (WPA) is proud to announce Danny Ok appointed as the President of newly formed WPA-Asia. Danny brings a wealth of water sports experience and knowledge of business to oversee the growth of Stand Up Paddling and Paddle Sports in Asia.
Danny’s background comes from the Windsurfing and Fitness industry that includes being a Three-time Olympian windsurfer, Korean Olympic Windsurfing Coach, 2002 Asian Games Gold medal, 1998 Asian Games Bronze medal, CrossFit trainer, Master Fitness Instructor and a PhD in Sport Physiology. As recent, Danny has invested his time in SUP given the fitness aspect and ease of growth in Asia.
“Danny brings great knowledge and experience to the WPA and the dedication to help grow the sport of stand up paddling and paddle sports in Korea and all of Asia”, states Byron Kurt, co-founder of the WPA. “With Danny’s background and great interest in the SUP, he will help expand the WPA to all of Asia while educating his directors to be successful in their endeavors”, continues Kurt.
“I’m excited to become the President of the WPA-Asia given their investment and knowledge in the sport of SUP and Paddling”, states Danny Ok. “The WPA will give myself and Asia the foundation to help grow the sport in the proper manner. No other organization has put in such a great effort to grow the sport of SUP in both guidelines and education”, continues Ok.
As President of WPA-Asia, Danny’s duties will be to evaluate and educate the Asia countries, conducting races and instructional courses for the safest and best growth of the sport. Danny will also work with the Asia Government agencies to give the proper direction for sustainability with SUP and all paddle sports.
