World Paddle Association announces formation of the 2017 World SUP Tour!

For Immediate Release:

The World Paddle Association is proud to announce the formation of the World SUP Tour (WST).  The 2017 WST will be 10-12 of the best events around the world to showcase not only the Elite-Pros, also the Open and Kid’s competitors.  Six different countries will make up the 2017 WST schedule that includes Canada, China, Korea, Puerto Rico and the U.S. (additional events may be added).  All the races included in 2017 were selected based on date, location, format, sponsor and spectator friendly to provide the best growth for the sport and the tour (see below event schedule).

While providing an unsurpassed event schedule in 2017, it was very important that WST events support paddlers of all levels with the Open (beginner-intermediate paddlers) and Kids races along with the Elite-Pro races.  The Open and Kids competitors are the future of the sport and vital to the best growth for stand up paddling, paddle sports and manufactures products sold at retail.

Points will be given to the Elite-Pro divisions at each event that will determine a 2017 WST World Champion at the season finale, Pacific Paddle Games, presented by Salt Life on September 29th-October 1, 2017.  Prize money will be offered for the Elite Pro SUP divisions at each event along with a season ending Salt Life bonus money to the top points finishers.  Go to www.worldpaddleassociation.com for more details to be announced in the coming weeks.
