Hanohano Huki Ocean Challenge-WPA State Championships

The 2013 Hanohano-Huki Ocean Challenge and the first WPA State Championships will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 in San Diego at Mission Bay.  2012 had nearly 570 competitors hit the water at Bonita Cove in Mission Bay in both the 5 mile short course and the 9 mile long course races.  Competitors will participate in all water crafts that include Paddleboard, Standup Paddleboard, Surfski, OC-1 in the 5 mile Flat Water short course and OC-1 and Surfski in 9 Mile Open Ocean long course.

The 2013 Hanohano race will also be the first WPA California State Championship Race conducted with points for rankings being offered to all crafts and genders.  The WPA looks to expand the rankings to other paddle crafts in support of the paddling community.  For more information on the Hanohano-Huki Ocean Challenge, go to http://www.hanohano.com/ocean-challenge/ or contact Dan Van Dyck at dvandyck1@gmail.com.
