THE APPALACHIAN CHALLENGE 8/17/2013

Race Name – Appalachian Challenge World Paddle Association Officially Sanctioned Event Upper Watauga Long Course is 5.4mi and the Lower Watauga Short Course is 2.2mi. Electronic Chip Timing will be used. Water start behind the starting line (shown as a yellow line in the course picture). No surface current. Flat water lake conditions. Entry Fee is $50 for each contestant regardless of course or class. The Entry Fee includes – First Place, Second Place, and Third Place Medals will be awarded on each course in each class for both men and women WPA 2013 Points will be awarded to all participants A Personal Flotation Device is required to be with competitor but it is not mandatory that it be worn. Any competitor on the water without a PFD will be disqualified. The United States Coast Guard recommends and many states require wearing lifejackets while operating personal watercraft (PWC) such as a Stand Up Paddle board. All WPA Rules Apply – Please be familiar with the WPA Rules Lower Watauga Short Course Classes Upper Watauga Long Course Classes Kid’s Fun Race after Short & Long Course races are complete. Open to any length paddleboard for competitors 12yrs and younger only. Metals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes. |
