2015 WPA Scholastic SUP Race Series Championships- Big Bear PaddleFest!

The WPA Scholastic SUP Race Series Championships will be conducted at the Big Bear PaddleFest this Saturday, September 19, 2015.  The Big Bear PaddleFest will also serve as a Salt Life Cup points race for those who enter in the 10k race and 10k Scholastic Varsity/Div 1 race.  The 2.5k kids race will serve as the Scholastic JV points race.

This will be the final race of the four race WPA Scholastic SUP Race Series for 2015 where all grade levels compete in their respective age divisions in both JV and Varsity levels that includes age groups 8&U, 9-11, 12-14 and 15-17.  Age group champions will be crowned with trophies to be given to all age groups at the JV and Varsity levels.  The WPA Scholastic standings are posted below by JV and Varsity divisions by age group.

Scholastic competitors who compete in the 10k Varsity race will also receive Salt Life Cup points.  This was the first year of the WPA Scholastic SUP Race Series that was only conducted in region 1 of the WPA that will be pushed out to all WPA regions in 2016.  The goal for the WPA Scholastic SUP Race Series was bring exposure to the youth competitors who train and compete for most of the year in hopes of getting the sport of SUP racing in the school systems across the country.

Since there are tens of thousands bodies of water that you can paddle on across the country and world, the sport of SUP can grow at the scholastic level through the efforts of our youth and to get school credit for their hard training and attending WPA Scholastic SUP competitions in 2016.
