Stay & SUP at Wrightsville’s Surf to Sound Resort

Wrightsville Beach, NC—In just a few years, Wrightsville Beach quickly earned a name for itself as the premier destination for paddle boarders on the East Coast. And due to its unique location between surf and sound, the Blockade Runner Beach Resort has welcomed prestigious SUP events like the Carolina Cup, N.C. Surf to Sound Challenge, Wrightsville Beach Biathlon (SUP & run) Sunset SUP Series and Cold Stroke Classic.

Each year, races such as these host athletes from around the globe—including World Champions Anthony Vela and Candice Appleby and professionals like Danny Ching and Heather Baus— who visit Wrightsville Beach for its confluence of flatwater currents, tides, inlets, open ocean and surf, stirring the growing community of local paddlers.

The Blockade Runner hosted its first race, the Cold Stroke Classic, back in 2010.  After witnessing the inspired fellowship and camaraderie between paddlers both elite and intermediate, Bill Baggett, owner of Blockade Runner, and Jason St. Clair, Director of Sales and Marketing, came together with the Wrightsville Beach Paddle Club with a goal of becoming the premier destination to stay and SUP on the East Coast.

“we have the ideal location to SUP and Stay. Our staff is trained and dedicated to providing exceptional customer service. We encourage everyone to come and experience Wrightsville Beach and the Blockade Runner”
