Shakira Westdorp, Q & A

    What is a normal training day like for you?Probably a run or swim on my lunch break then a paddle after work in the creek. Do paddle back on days off… If the winds are ok for it .

    What goals do you have for yourself in the sport of SUP or other?

    I would like to win the Battle Of The Paddle (BOP) again. That race was amazing, so much fun.

    What is the key for success for you or tip you would give someone?

    A good coach

    What do you like most about your sport?

    Its lots of fun and there are so many different ways you can enjoy it, from cruising in the creek to doing down winders and getting nice runners or just having a surf… Just being in the ocean

    How did you get started in paddling and what type?

    Probably 6 years ago when Mick Dibetta and Jamie Mitchell had the first one, I would borrow if off them and have a go and got hooked.

    What are your plans for 2010?

    Not real sure yet, I have just been working on a career with the Queensland Fire and Rescue and just found outIi got a position soIi will have to wait and see what I can get too, but Molokai and the Battle of the Paddle would be cool.

    What is your biggest turn off and On?

    Straight onshore winds cause they are nooooo good for anything and best thing is getting unreal runners and feeling fit.

    Who is your favorite athlete?

    I am not real sure probably Jeff from Santa Cruz (the guy with one arm ) he paddled Molokai this year. He is pretty inspiring.

    Favorite tunes or genre on your H2O audio?

    Probably anything with some up beat tunes not to slow but not to heavy.
