2018 Salt Life Columbus Cup in Columbus, GA May 5 & 6, 2018

COLUMBUS, Ga. (April 10, 2018) — Salt Life, one of today’s leading lifestyle apparel brands, in conjunction with the World Paddle Association (WPA) and Uptown Columbus RiverFest, will host the 2018 Salt Life Columbus Cup on May 5-6, 2018, in Columbus, Georgia. The event will take place on the Chattahoochee River (90 miles south of Atlanta) three blocks from downtown Columbus. The paddle race will be part of the Columbus RiverFest, also presented by Salt Life, which brings together the local community to celebrate water activities and safety with three days of food, drink vendors and bands at the event site. The Salt Life Columbus Cup is part of the Salt Life Cup series and offers the top-placing Open and Junior competitors (3-mile technical race) free entry into the 2018 Pacific Paddle Games presented by Salt Life on October 5 and 6 in Doheny State Beach, California. The Salt Life Columbus Cup will include the following races and board divisions: a 3-mile Open SUP & Prone technical race, 1 & 3-mile Kids races, a 4.5-mile SUP Pro technical race and a 7-mile distance race for Surfski, OC1 & OC2, SUP & Prone ULT ONLY on Saturday. SUP yoga clinics and classes will be offered along with a paddle clinic by 4x time World SUP Champion and reigning Salt Life Cup Champion Connor Baxter.

This year we will introduce the WPA 1 Mile Challenge, where paddlers will be ranked based on craft, gender and age group worldwide, as one of the Combo events. The Combo events will include the technical race and the 1-mile time trial for SUP Open, Juniors and Pro Elite. OC, Surfski and Prone will include the Distance race and 1-mile time trial. The 1 Mile Time Trial for all crafts and open entry will be conducted on Sunday. The full race schedule with travel and hotel discounts can be accessed at www.paddleguru.com. Prize money will be offered to OC, Surfski and Prone divisions entered in the Combo Distance/1 Mile Time Trial races along with the Pro-Elite SUP Combined Technical & 1 Mile Time Trial to the top finishers overall across the line.
